Two Day Intensive Lean Implementation Workshop This workshop was developed at the request of numerous
clients. The Two-Day Intensive Lean Implementation Workshop combines many of the elements taught
in other Sterling Lean workshops. Combining
these elements into a single multi-day learning experience helps attendees gain a better
understanding of how each element fits with the others.
In this workshop we cover all the fundamental areas required for a Lean Implementation. This course is intended for those who have a basic understanding of Lean Principles and are preparing to move into a Lean implementation. It should be attended by the leaders of your company's Lean initiative, manufacturing operations leadership and cell or floor team leaders. While not required, we recommend that individuals or groups attending bring a laptop computer with Microsoft Excel and Access as well as a small amount of non-proprietary process data. This will greatly enhance the groups understanding of the application of the principles covered. Greater detail will be provided in the registration package. A CD-ROM with all the software used in the workshop will be give to each attendee. Attendees will be requested to review some course materials prior to the workshop. Details will be included in the registration confirmation package. COURSE OUTLINE Day 1
The first day begins with understanding Lean. We will look at what is required for a company to become Lean and how to calculate the bottom line benefits for your company. We will look at how to benchmark your company's current performance and how to continue measuring performance in the future. Using exercises and simulations, we will show you how to use the Lean toolbox to uncover the waste in your processes that cost your company time and money. Attendees will be asked to use these tools to map out and evaluate one process from their own plant. Day 2 The second day will show how to use the Lean Tools to begin the process of eliminating all forms of waste discovered on your first day. Using data from the previous day, we will simulate various types of flow control and when to use each. We will review setup reduction techniques and how to apply them. The use of Lean tools to focus Quality efforts for greatest impact will be covered, as well as how to calculate the profit benefits of those programs. We will also look at the role that vendor relations plays in a Lean company and how to establish a Lean Supply Chain. Finally, we will look at the issues of creating motivated employees and sustaining a Lean Culture. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
